How to Choose the Perfect Bridal Bouquet

Knowing how to choose the perfect bridal bouquet can make all the difference in styling your wedding day look. It can be daunting to decide on the ideal bouquet that will complement your wedding dress. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with some helpful tips from a Cincinnati wedding florist to make your decision a little easier. Consider Your Dress Style When it comes to selecting the perfect bouquet, your dress style is a crucial factor. If you have a ball gown wedding dress, a larger bouquet with a cascading shape will be a great choice. For a more relaxed dress style, a smaller and simpler bouquet will work better. Think About Your Wedding Theme Your wedding theme should also be a consideration in your bouquet choice. If you have a rustic wedding theme, a bouquet with natural elements such as wildflowers and greenery will complement your theme. If you have a more classic or formal wedding theme, a bouquet with roses or peonies will give off an elegant vibe. Consider the Colors The colors in your bouquet should complement your wedding dress and tie in with your overall wedding color scheme. For example, if you have a neutral or pastel wedding design, a bouquet with pastel colors will work well. If you have a wedding design with bold colors or patterns, a bouquet with complementary colors will balance out your look. Think About Your Personal Style Your personal style is another crucial factor when choosing your bouquet. If you’re a romantic at heart, a bouquet with roses and peonies will fit your style. If you prefer a more modern look, a bouquet with a sleek and structured design will work best. Make an Informed Decision Knowing how to choose the perfect bridal bouquet to complement your wedding is […]

2023 Wedding Floral Trends We Love

In 2023, we have a lot to be excited about, especially when it comes to wedding floral trends! Floral arrangements are an essential element of any wedding. They play a significant role in creating the right ambiance and aesthetic. Your florals also appear in many of your wedding images, from the ceremony and reception florals to the bouquets the bride and bridesmaids are holding. There are several floral trends to consider that will add elegance and sophistication to the event and your gallery of images that you get back from your photographer. Monochromatic Floral Arrangements One trend that is rising in popularity, is the use of monochromatic floral arrangements. This involves using a single color for all the flowers in the arrangements. It creates a cohesive and impactful look. White or cream-colored flowers are often used to create a timeless and elegant feel. Oversized Florals Another trend to consider is the use of oversized floral arrangements. These larger-than-life arrangements can be used as focal points in the wedding décor, creating a stunning visual impact. They can be made up of a single type of flower or a mix of different blooms, depending on the desired effect. Unique Floral Elements Incorporating unique and unexpected floral elements can also add a modern twist to wedding décor. For example, incorporate fruit or other unconventional plants into floral arrangements to create a  visually interesting look. Hanging Floral Installations Finally, hanging floral installations add a touch of drama and sophistication to the event. These installations are used as backdrops for the ceremony or reception and create a stunning visual centerpiece for the entire event. There are several floral trends to consider when planning your wedding. By incorporating monochromatic arrangements, oversized blooms, unique floral elements, and hanging installations, couples are able to create a stunning and […]

To us its more than just flowers!

Photography by Sarah Babcock Studio – The Dayton Arcade – Nuage Linens – Table Top by Prime Time Party Rental – KMC Weddings If wedding flowers are a top priority for your wedding day, you’ll want to hire an event florist who specializes in wedding work. There are different types of florists with different areas of expertise. Your local flower shop can design bouquets and centerpieces for you, but they probably don’t offer the extensive rental selection a wedding florist does.  Elaborate custom pieces probably aren’t an option. The type of florist you’ll want to work with depends completely on your vision for your wedding flowers! At Floral V Designs, weddings are our passion, and our team has years of experience creating custom designs to reflect our couples. Cady, Lauren or Kim sit down with each potential client to discuss their wedding day wish-list, priorities, and budget. We will create a proposal specifically tailored to that couple. The proposal is just the beginning, however: weddings are productions that require a great deal of time, skill and effort to bring a couple’s vision to life!   Photography by Sarah Babcock Studio – Draping by Unlimited Events – Dayton Arcade Design and Planning by KMC Weddings When you hire an event florist, you’re investing in a product and a service. It all starts with consultations, crafting custom proposals, sketching concepts.  From there we answer questions and changes throughout the planning process. Next we design and set the wedding, flip the ceremony, and tear down the event.  As you see there is a lot of time and skill that goes into making a wedding event! Many wedding florists, like Floral V Designs, are actually floral and event designers. This means we are often involved with the overall design of a wedding, and not […]

Tall Wedding Centerpieces and Reception Design in Cincinnati, Ohio. Part 1

Let’s talk reception design!  In this blog we’ll look at the elements you’ll need to host a spectacular wedding reception that is unique to your style and dazzles your wedding guests. Thru our real wedding images, we hope to inspire you with some of the best reception table designs we have crafted for our Floral V Designs clients. Tall centerpieces are an eye-catching way to complement your venue and create a “WOWIE” moment for you and your guests. These lush designs are essential for setting the tone of your reception, adding drama, and displaying your signature style. A tall centerpiece’s style and elements can vary greatly depending on your vision, goals, and venue. Fortunately, we have fantastic design team that loves creating stunning elevated centerpieces for each couple’s dream wedding. Nothing could be more spectacular! Our first example, is from a reception at Green Acres Foundation in Cincinnati, Ohio.  It shows how powerfully tall centerpieces command a room, or in this case a tent. As your guests enter the tent, their gaze is drawn around with the help of these magnificent fixtures. To add visual weight to the layout, we counterbalance the centerpiece’s height with Southern Smilax garlands draped from the ceiling and the parameter of the tent. The result is stunning! Photography by Amanda Donaho – Planning and Design by I Do Weddings and Events  In this next example, we travel to Kenwood Country Club in Cincinnati.  Creating centerpieces that enriched the Country Clubs design was a key consideration for our team. The Floral V Designs team developed distinct floral arrangements for all the guest tables.  Beautiful, tall, garden-inspired centerpieces filled with light blue and white hydrangeas, champagne and blush roses adorned the 40 inch glass Bespoke vases that sat atop the periwinkle satin linens. We just signed our contract. Now what do we do?

This is the worst part… the wait for the big day! Feel free to reach out as you continue planing to make adjustments, or to just get advice on different aspects of the day. We have been a part of thousands of weddings and are happy to help you figure out what might work best for you! We will also check in periodically to touch base on outstanding design elements like cake flowers or escort card displays, and if you’re working with a planner we will be in contact with them throughout the process.  By the way – we love planners! SO…when you hire a planner, please keep us in the loop! About 2 months before the wedding things really kick into high gear!  Kristin will check in to make sure their haven’t been any major changes to your guest count and see if you need a final details meeting with our owner Cady.  Cady will go over any last minute additions like styling blooms or additional centerpieces before confirming your wedding flowers. You’ll also get a “Final Details” email from Kristin 30 days before where she will confirm logistics for the day, triple check your wedding party numbers (you won’t believe how many times clients add a bridesmaid and forget to tell us!) and tie up any loose ends. In the weeks leading up to the wedding we’ll also be working with your venue and other vendors to schedule timing and generally make sure all the little details are taken care of on our end.

Im Engaged & Looking for a wedding florist!

Photography by Odessa James Photography – The Meshewa House at Turner Farm – Design by KMC Weddings If you’re here, you’re likely ready and want to reserve Floral V Designs for your big day.  Well lets start out by saying CONGRATULATIONS!! Even if you have your wedding date picked out, you might not be quite ready to dive head first into the design process. It’s important that you give yourself some time to research and get inspired during the early planning process.  Choose your venue, pick out the dresses, start Pinning images that inspire you. Photography by Amanda Donaho On average, most of our clients book with us 6 months to one year out from their wedding date. That said, we have some couples who book more than a year out, and others who reach out 3 months from the big day. But don’t wait to reach out to your top choice vendors. Especially if you’re getting married during peak wedding season( May, June, Sept, Oct), since most are only able to accommodate a few weddings per weekend! Before you reach out, it’s helpful to have your venue selected and booked, since the location determines so many factors of the day (style and color palette, guest count, etc). Planning reception flowers and décor without a venue is like decorating a house you haven’t bought yet. The couch might not fit and the colors could be all wrong! If you’d like to chat flowers before you book your venue, we are happy too!  Just keep in mind that it will be a more general conversation and things might change once you settle on a space.   Photography by Odessa James Photography – The Meshewa House at Turner Farm – Design by KMC Weddings   Once you have your venue, the […]

A Showcase of Love at the Westin in Cincinnati

Angie and Nick’s wedding day was a beautiful showcase of their love for each other. Their wedding took place at The Westin in Cincinatti, Ohio and their reception at The View, in Mt. Adams. The Mundap was gorgeously decorated in peach, light pink and white flowers with touches of greenery. The Italian Ruscus greenery decorated the upright poles of the Mundap. The hanging bells added a touch of gold to help tie in the chairs. The carnation garlands were strung behind, adding to this gorgeous backdrop. On the gold chairs were the bride and groom’s garland/lays which they wore during the ceremony. On the edge of the stage were beautiful floating candles in large glass vases as well as gold compote/footed bowls with floating candles. The bridesmaid bouquets were also a combination of the brides favorite flowers. All of these beautiful colors, pinks, green, and reds truly helped show the love the bride and groom have for each other. Congratulations Angie and Nick on your gorgeous day and for letting us help showcase your love!   Florals by Floral V Designs  Bells and Chair rentals by Unlimited Events Ceremony Venue at The Westin in Cincinnati Planning by I-Do Weddings & Events Photography by Amanda Donaho

Seasonal Spring Flowers and Sunshine at Derby Lane Estate

Happy 1 year Anniversary to Zack and Kim!!! What could be better than a spring wedding, full of sunshine, at one of the most sunning venues with a pond? Nothing! Kim and Zack were able to spread the love (and sunshine) at Derby Lane Estate with their beautiful spring flowers. Kim is the lead floral designer at Floral V Designs, and her wedding flowers were something dreams were made of.  She was able to showcase her amazing, in season-spring florals through all the personal bouquets, but also through three wedding arches and reception decor. These wedding arches created the perfect backdrop for their May wedding.  Thanks to Lost and Found Event Rentals for custom making these for us!!!   A bonus was being able to repurpose the flowers on a bridge over the water( a fabulous idea from the photographer), creating an amazing image for the Bride and Groom. Every detail was planned perfectly, even down to the spring palate of dress colors that of course matched the amazing flower choices.. Let’s be real, who doesn’t love a bright spring flowers with sunshine? Congratulations to Kim and Zack, what a perfect day you two created! Photographer: Sarah Babcock Flowers: Floral V Designs
