Re-potted Succulents

Our DIY project of the week.  We re-potted all of our succulents from the bridal show at the Dayton Convention Center.  We used old-recycled votive candle holders and we used cactus potting soil.  This would be a great little favor or place card holder!  So Cute!

Vintage, Romantic, hand tied bridal bouquet

Ever since the first day of “Pinterest” the day of a traditional bridal bouquet went to the way side. Now brides are bringing their I Pad and showing us their Pinterest page or their wedding website with all of their weddings inspirations, ideas and images. This bouquet was inspired by your traditional 3 dozen rose bridal bouquet. The new twist – Not doing 3 dozen roses 😉 This beautiful bouquet is vintage in style, romantic in texture and monochromatic in color. The flowers in this beautiful bridal bouquet are David Austin Garden Roses, Ranuculas and Bouvardia, all in shades of magenta/hot pink. Photo credit: Blink of and Eye Photography, Oakwood Ohio.

The fresh flower bouquet alternative, The Broach Bouquet

Looking for a different option other than the floral bridal bouquet? Look no further, the broach bouquet is the fresh flower alternative.   Broach bouquets can be a great do-it-yourself project for a bride and her friends and family; collecting beautiful vintage pieces from garage sales and antique stores. Broach bouquets can also be custom made in your wedding color scheme or theme. The colors and styles are limitless…. Here are some great websites that offer custom bridal broach bouquets. bluepetyl.com Artfire.com http://www.etsy.com/shop/broochbouquets *Remember all these pieces are custom made to order, so brides give yourself enough time to place your order.  4-6 months is an average turnaround time.  Some websites offer rush building/shipping, but it is always better to order early just in case you run into a snaffu.*

Trend of the Year: Succulents

Succulents have become a huge trend in the wedding industry this 2012 wedding season. Succulents are a part of the cacti family; holding their water in their thick little petals. They are also known in the botany world as “fat plants,” talking about their think and fleshy petals. Succulents are grown as an ornamental plant because of their unusual appearance. Succulents are great to work with for wedding bouquets, men’s boutonnieres and other decorations. They obviously wont wilt quickly, being that they don’t need a water source. We love this heart made of mixed succulents!!! We found an amazing succulent website where you can get inspired about succulents, check them out for more information!!! Sweetstuffssassysucculents.com

Tulips

The Tulip, is typically associated with perfect love and modesty. Tulips are one of springs most popular flower; known for their long sturdy stems and smaller cup shaped bloom. Thousands of years ago, Tulips originated from Turkey and Persia; then they were introduced to Europe in the 17th century.  It started “Tulipmaina,” especially in the Netherlands. Now today, each individual Tulip has its own meaning. Red Tulips declare true love & fame and fortune where as pink tulips show happiness and confidence.  The yellow Tulip represents cheerfulness and sunshine and the white Tulip shows forgiveness and worth.
